Council Complaints Procedure

Haxby Town Council has adopted a procedure for the handling of complaints.

Freedom Of Information (FOI)

In line with the Freedom of Information Act 2000 legislation, this is the Council’s policy for Freedom
of Information requests. The Act gives a general right of access to all types of recorded information held by
public bodies, such as local councils.

Code of Conduct

Pursuant to section 27 of the Localism Act 2011, Haxby Town Council (‘the Council’) has adopted
a Code of Conduct to promote and maintain high standards of behaviour by its members and co-opted 
members whenever they conduct the business of the Council, including the business of the
office to which they were elected or appointed, or when they claim to act or give the impression of
acting as a representative of the Council. This Code of Conduct is based on the following principles of
selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty, and leadership.

Recording of Council Meetings

Haxby Town Council is committed to being open and transparent in the way it conducts its decision
making.

The right to record, film and to broadcast meetings of the Haxby Town Council, its committees, sub
committees and any joint committees is established under the Openness of Local Government
Regulations 2014. This is in addition to the rights of the press and public to attend such meetings.
